A learning experience I had recently was Odyssey Week. During this week we did a lot of community building activities where we would go on field trips around the city of Houston and we even went outside of Houston. Some of these activities included sea grass planting in Galveston, going to a temple in Asia Town, and having a cooking competition at Brazos Bend. The cooking competition had to most community building because we where pared up into groups and had to work together to make a dish to impress the judges. The best part about my group is that we didn't even car about winning, we just wanted to have fun and have something to eat.

This week I'm thinking of joining the South Texas PGA (STPGA). This is a youth golf organization that goes throughout South Texas, mostly in the Houston area, and they have golf tournaments every week. Since I want to play golf in the future, I want to start playing competitive golf as early as possible instead of waiting for my Junior or Senior year. This will give me experience and will improve my game a lot. I have recently been practicing with an instructor for the past few weeks and I think I'm able to take on the challenge with playing kids who are on my level or even better.

Last week the Post Oak golf team had a golf tournament. The tournament was in Houston Oaks which is in the suburbs of Houston. The tournament was supposed a "for fun" tournament where we would be on teams of three and play with parents or volunteers who showed up to the event. My team was the only team that had more than two golf team members. We played all 18 holes and I was able to get some good shots in. Unfortunately we finished last but we still had some fun.

These past two weeks have been a lot of fun because we had A-term. For A-term I decided to to On Par again which is the same thing I did for J-term. During the coarse we went out to a facility called FM Law Park which were they have a short coarse that is used to train young athletes. We went their most of the days but some days we got to go to Topgolf and had some fun their. During our time at FM Law Park we would usually start practicing on the driving range and the putting green and then play nine holes on the course. On the final two days we would have a skills test which is where we got to show the skills we learned through out the coarse. We then had a tournaments where we had 5 teams and we played nine holes and the team with the lowest score won. My team placed third but I was happy with how I did because I played the best I've ever played on nine holes.

This past week the first week of golf season started. On the first day, which was Monday, we went out to Wildcat for a couple of hours and just hit some balls on the driving range and did some putting on the putting green. That day I had to improve on a lot of things with my swing because I was just not hitting my best then. The second day of practice we just went to Hermann Park Golf Course and actually played a couple of holes. That day I was hitting amazing even though we didn't even get a chance to warm up. I almost hit my first par but since I had a water hazard, I just got a bogey. We were supposed to play six holes but we were only able to get in four. I'm excited for the rest of the season and to go to Quail Valley on Thursday since I've never been.

Recently we had a golf J-Term. Even though I already played golf, I still wanted to learn a little more about the history and more about the course. I learned things like how golf used to be a sport where people would hit a pebble of sand dunes and tracks, and I learned about history of racism and sexism being involved in golf. I found most of the topics very interesting. It was a lot of fun going to the practice facility and even Wildcat Golf Course which was really hard but really fun. One of my favorite parts were helping people out with there swing. The last day was fun because we got to do a tournament (which my team won) and also have pizza for lunch.
